Lake Image Systems is pleased to announce the release of The Discovery Mailmark Verifier, a vision based system to inspect and validate the Royal Mail Mailmark printed on all mail items such as envelopes, direct mail or poly-wrapped mailings.
Mailmark is a new Royal Mail tracking service which allows you to track individual mailings using 2D barcodes. This gives a higher level of reassurance that mail has been delivered, more accurate indication of delivery dates and improved Royal Mail internal processes. However, if the Mailmark printed on a mail piece is incorrect or deemed unreadable by the Royal Mail’s sorting machinery, these benefits are lost and Royal Mail can impose high “Adjustment” charges, which can seriously impact overall job profitability.
The Discovery Mailmark Verifier ensures that every Mailmark barcode is correct and conforms to the standards required by Royal Mail before each and every mail-piece leaves the print factory. More importantly it arms the Mailer with all the evidencing information necessary should an issue arises with Royal Mail.
The Discovery Mailmark Verifier scans and tracks each mail item and reads the printed (including in-line inkjet) Mailmark barcode. Each Mailmark is de-coded, inspected, graded, and creates and logs data into an audit file. For any Mailmark barcode that fails to pass the required specification, the Mailmark Verifier instructs the inserter to divert the piece for further inspection, or flags it for an automated reprint. This allows the operator to quickly locate the problem, report it, repair it, and get the machine running again.
“Like with all mail management systems; volume discrepancies, mis-sort or read errors can occur, either at the mail producer or as it is going through the Royal Mail processing centres.” commented Paul Stinson, Sales Director of Lake Image Systems Ltd. “When issues arise, being able to prove your consignments are error free can save the Mailer a lot of aggravation, time and cost. The Discovery Mailmark Verifier is a proven and cost effective solution for all UK mailers who are currently on, or thinking of joining the Mailmark program.”
